Al Macintyre
My sister has a web page where she works http://homelink.cps-k12.org/teachers/canteys/ but was asking me about my weblog because she likes the apparent flexibility I have, and became enthusiastic when I started saying I could use WYSIWYG throughout ... I have tweaked some HTML but it was not neccessary, it was just a short cut to making some stuff look nicer.

I got into some specifics about My Radio, and suggesting that depending on what she is looking for, some of the other competitors might have what she needs with less of a learning curve. Turns out she wants to use it to post the music that she composes and performs as a hobby, and she does not believe the 40 meg ceiling of Radio and Salon will be adequate for her.

Well that was the motivation for me looking into what the Radio competition had to offer .. in http://radio.weblogs.com/0107846/stories/2002/10/03/blogSoftware.html I list over 100 vendors of Blog Software, which is pretty amazing, and in http://radio.weblogs.com/0107846/stories/2002/11/21/blogSoftwarePerspectives.html I gather links to places for a do-it-yourself Consumer Reports of comparing the features of about half of them.

But I still do not have a reccommendation for my sister, who wants to start her music blog next summer.

Take a look at my links and see if you agree that I have been successful in my mission to impartially show the choices that are out there without being obvious about my preferences. That will help people see what's available, but once they pick their vendor of future choice, they may need additional links, where to start for each.

If they follow my path to Radio, then there's my directory of Radio documentation sources http://radio.weblogs.com/0107846/stories/2002/08/23/radioDocSources.html with a summary of which of these are best (in my opinion) for the absolute beginner at http://radio.weblogs.com/0107846/stories/2002/09/06/radioStart.html
